Introducing #teamnixon 2019

#teamNixon was established in 2018 to raise money for pediatric Cancer Research and Care after Nixon Clarke, then 5 years old, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

Australian born and having lived in New England since early 2015 Nixon's cancer was discovered after a day on the slopes of Stowe during Thanksgiving 2017. Nixon and his family have since made Stowe a second home when school and treatment allows they are on the mountain skiing or golfing.

Music has played a big part in Nixon's treatment. He began learning the guitar in hospital and eventually was bringing his guitar to his all day treatment sessions. Instead of being scared of going to clinic, the pain, nausea, boredom and feeling horrible was replaced with excitement as he learnt to play the guitar.

That break from the anxiety and dread, the creation of a positive experience from something so horrible is ultimately what #teamNixon wants to give all patients. First though we must enable the creation of specialized treatment for low income kids from low income families so they can have the same shot of a successful outcome as those from higher income homes.

Every little bit counts, other ways you can support #teamNixon
